What does it take to make a piece of content go viral? For years experts have been trying to come up with the magic formula that creates a viral hint. They have carefully examined the efforts of hitmakers who come up with consistently popular work (think Upworthy, or Buzzfeed). They have messed around with their own headlines, tweaked their SEO strategy, put thousands into social marketing campaigns that promote their content beyond anything else.
Do you know what they have found? There is no magic formula. There is no single, foolproof way to make your content go viral on the web. Many popular content creators will never see a viral hit, in spite of how consistently they release something awesome. But just because there is no special blueprint to follow for viral content doesn’t mean you shouldn’t engage in viral marketing.
Viral marketing is the process promoting your work in a way that vastly increases your chances of getting a hit. You are marketing as though the content were already viral, in other words, not engaging in a lackluster campaign and hoping it sticks.
Here we will look at some of the best viral marketing techniques. Learn to write engaging headlines without being too click-baity and sensationalist. Find the balance between controversy and alienation. Discover better social media strategies that will grow your reader base consistently. Make sure your work is actually found and devoured by the right audience. Start using other bloggers to promote your work, for free, and in a way that they will benefit from and want.
